I really liked the Ozobot products. These are great for my young students and I love how they incorporate non-tech materials (markers) as well as utilize coding language that can be uploaded.
ReplyDeleteEdison was really easy to jump into. With a solid chassis and wheel already made but expandable with Lego pieces, kids can get right into driving the robot and doing all sorts of fun things without having to get the basic assembly done. It has a lot of sensors to try out. The printable free instruction booklets have all you need to install different programs (pre-made) that can be activated by driving the bot over a barcode in the instruction booklet. I think it was really fun and would be perfect for a Makerspace pick-up to play, learn, and grow with. I don't know how to do advanced programming with it but I think it is possible. At about $40 (?) each, you could get started with a little fleet without blowing your whole budget.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Blue-Bots and feel they could be implemented easily in a library program for kids of a variety of ages. I already own 2 spheros and think that the Blue-Bots could pair nicely with them.
ReplyDeleteLove the Blue Bot and Edison! The BLue Bot would be a fun step up from the Yellow Bee Bots for those kids that need the extra challenge. The Edison was just fun and easy to work with and was build on capable. Both of these are easily pulled into curriculum.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed learning about Edison. This was fairly simple, and I like that you can program it with your ipad or other device. It seemed very well made, and easy to set up. I like that it is compatible with Legos, which is always engaging!
ReplyDeleteI liked the VEX Robotic Hand. I just wish there was more time to ply with it.
